Chromium Alloys
The most important property of Chromium is that it improves corrosion and oxidation resistance in stainless steels. It can also improve the hardness of non stainless grades because of the formation of Chromium carbides. In a typical austenitic stainless steel the Chromium content is 18% with 8% Nickel.
